This is known as a short-term adverse effect resulting from eating junk foods. As junk foods don't provide you with essential nutrients, even though they can be very much sufficing, you feel weakened. Consuming deficient nutrients could be as a supplement.
Apart from forming plaques and constricting arteries, cholesterol also affects liver where it is metabolized. High cholesterol from junk food and diet strains liver damaging it eventually. This is a long term effect.

Not all foods are junk; moreover, our bodies have enough stamina to take care off occasional junk food eating. However, beware; the lure is strong enough to get you addicted. It is in your hands choose junk food or health.

You are entirely responsible for what you eat. You have the option to select your food. Junk food might have its adverse effects, but exercising yourself and balancing your meals would save you from many health problems.

I could not agree more with you that junk food has no nutrition. Well, in my point I would say that we as teenagers know that junk food is unhealthy but one of the very reasons that we take them is because it is fast. We do not have to wait for long before the food is served.

While browsing, I found an article that very much fascinated me. It is from the ABC News. “While Professor Rickwood admits that several factors contribute to childhood obesity, she says children are "awash" with advertising which promotes the idea that junk food is normal.”

This can be one of the causes of why people are fascinated and are still continuously eating this food that will soon kill their health.

In my own personal opinion is that fast food is bad , but these days a lot of people like myself usually like to eat where the food is inexpensive and where the service is fast and convenient and a lot of people like myself knows that fast food is not good but yet we still go there for the taste that is embedded in our blood system.

Junk food refers to fast foods which are easy to make and easy to consume. They are zero in nutritional value .They have only fats lying in it causing ill effects on the health of the consumer. The taste is the most attractive feature in junk foods. But is there at least little use of junk food to our body and health.

If ingredients make junk foods appealing, it is the same reason that makes them health hazardous too. The fat contents, barring a few manufacturers, have high cholesterol levels. Secondly, the sugar and sodium salts have their effects on health. High calorie content with sugar can lead to obesity. Cholesterol and salt are known to setoff blood pressure, stroke and heart diseases in a chain. Excessive salts can affect functioning of kidneys too.

Eating is a natural part of life, but according to some researchers, some types of food eaten - namely sugary and fatty foods - may act like a drug and may be addictive. As Srikant said Junk food refers to fast foods which are easy to make and easy to consume. They are zero in nutritional value .They have only fats lying in it causing ill effects on the health of the consumer. The taste is the most attractive feature in junk foods. But is there at least little use of junk food to our body and health. With obesity rising and junk food ever present, is it really possible that some people may be addicted to food? The following factors can be considered why people are fascinated to junk food.
The Time Factor:
I completely agree with Elyn that one of the reason why junk food addiction is so high because of its simplicity. They are easy to prepare and are very tasty. Junk foods such as potato wafers and Cheetos do not even need cooking or heating. You prefer to eat them when you watch TV. You save yourself a lot of hassles and time when you are in a hurry eating pizzas and burgers as they are served at your door step hot and ready to eat.

The Taste Factor:
If time constraint is one reason that pushes you to eating junk food, great taste also, to an extent influences you to opt for junk food. But junk foods get their taste owing to lavish usage of oils, salts and/or sugar. Once you are caught in junk food addiction, you find it hard to think about the loss of nutrition junk food pushes you into.

Junk Food Advertising:
Foods prepared out side the home and restaurant foods have a great attraction for food buffs. One estimate tells us Fritto Lays is selling a billion bags of Cheetos® per year. It is an altogether different story that junk food advertising has a major role in this.

I agree with Eric, that we are completely responsible for what we eat; we have option to select between healthy food and junk food.

The famous microbiologist Dr. Michael F. Jacobson coined the phrase "Junk Food" in 1972 to describe unhealthy or non-nutritious food. Junk food contains little or zero nutritious value to the diet - it contains too much unnecessary calories and fat which are useless and harmful to human health.

Junk food has been a part of the American society for years and now it has become an addiction for many people.

Junk foods are very convenient to purchase and consume, which is one reason that millions of busy Americans don't think about a healthy diet or spend the time to prepare healthy meals. Junk food is also very popular among children, and with every passing day, its addiction is increasing.

Scientists and researchers have been talking about adverse effects of junk food for decades. The harmful effects which are associated with junk food eating are generally characterized as short-term effects and long-term effects.

Short Term Impacts on Health

Reduced Energy

Though a person may eat a sufficient quantity of junk food, they will still feel weakened since junk foods contain little, if any, nutritional value.

Reduced Concentration

People who eat too much junk food, which is rich in oil and fat, may not be able to concentrate on work, they may feel drowsy, and their blood circulation may decrease.

Long Term Impacts on Health

Heart Disease

Junk food is one of the primary causes of heart disease - Myocardial infarction being one example. This occurs when plaque is formed in the arteries that are connected to the heart. These arteries have to work extra hard to pump blood downstream, which in turn creates circulation problems. Heart fatigue and heart attack can also often be associated with junk food.

High Cholesterol

Junk food diet creates high cholesterol which affects your liver. Continuous junk food consumption may completely damage your liver, or at least disturb your metabolism.

To conclude, it can be said that junk foods can be used occasionally, but using them on a regular basis is very unhealthy and harmful. They could easily destroy your health and fitness. The enticement towards junk foods is very high, especially among children. It is vital to remember that Health is Wealth.
